1. What ThumbType Does

ThumbType V2 is a custom Android keyboard (Input Method Editor / IME) developed by SY5TEM N3XT. It includes the following features:

• Custom Keyboard: A full replacement keyboard for typing on Android devices.
• AI Brain (Optional): Rewrites typed text using OpenAI's API. Requires you to supply your own OpenAI API key.
• Voice Typing: Converts spoken words to text using Android's built-in speech recognition.
• Contact Capture: Lets you scan QR codes or speak contact details to quickly save new contacts to your device address book.
• Send Module / Contact Library: Displays your device contacts inside the keyboard for quick selection while composing messages.
• Address Book: A local on-device contact manager within the app.
• QR Code Creator: Generates QR codes locally on your device.
• Notepad: A local notepad for drafting text.
• Launchpad: A quick-access launcher for sharing files (photos, documents, audio).

2. Data We Collect — None

We do not collect:

• Text you type
• Messages you compose or send
• Your contacts or contact information
• Your API keys
• Your name, email address, or account information
• Device identifiers or advertising IDs
• Location data
• Usage statistics or analytics
• Crash or diagnostic reports

There are no analytics SDKs, no crash reporting libraries, no advertising SDKs, and no SY5TEM N3XT backend servers in this application.

3. Keyboard & Input Method Access

Here is exactly what ThumbType does and does not do with text input:

What ThumbType does with typed text

• Standard keyboard function: Typed characters are sent to the app you are currently typing in (e.g., a messaging app, email, browser). This is the normal, expected behavior of any keyboard.
• AI rewriting (only when you tap the robot button): If you have set up the AI Brain feature and you explicitly tap the robot (🤖) button, the text currently in the input field is sent directly to OpenAI using your own API key. This transmission goes directly from your device to OpenAI — it does not pass through SY5TEM N3XT.

What ThumbType does NOT do with typed text

• We do not record, log, or store any text you type.
• We do not transmit your typing to SY5TEM N3XT or any SY5TEM N3XT server.
• We do not monitor, analyze, or profile your typing patterns.
• Text is never sent to any AI provider unless you explicitly trigger it by tapping the AI button.
• Password fields and sensitive input fields are handled by Android's system-level protections; ThumbType respects these flags and does not process text from password fields.

4. AI Brain Feature & Third-Party AI Providers

The AI Brain feature is entirely optional. You can use ThumbType as a full-featured keyboard without ever setting up AI Brain.

How AI Brain works

1. You create your own account directly with OpenAI.
2. You obtain an API key from OpenAI and enter it in ThumbType's AI Brain settings.
3. Your API key is stored locally on your device only (see Section 7).
4. When you tap the robot button, the text in the current input field is sent directly from your device to your chosen provider's API endpoint.
5. The AI provider returns a rewritten version of the text, which ThumbType inserts back into the input field.

Third-party AI provider and their privacy policy

When you use AI Brain, your text is subject to OpenAI's privacy policy. Please review it:

Billing and charges

Any costs, charges, or credits associated with AI API usage are between you and your chosen provider. SY5TEM N3XT does not receive payment and is not responsible for any charges you incur. Please monitor your API usage in your provider's dashboard.

AI Brain in Contact Capture

The Contact Capture feature also uses your OpenAI API key (if configured) to parse spoken contact information into structured fields. The same rules apply: your voice-captured text is sent directly to OpenAI's API using your own key. SY5TEM N3XT does not receive this data.

5. Contacts Access

ThumbType requests two contacts-related permissions: READ_CONTACTS and WRITE_CONTACTS.

READ_CONTACTS — Send Module & Contact Library

The Send Module's Contact Library feature reads your device contacts to display them inside the keyboard, allowing you to quickly select a recipient while composing a message. Your contacts are:

• Read directly from your device's local contacts database.
• Displayed only within the ThumbType keyboard interface.
• Never transmitted off your device by SY5TEM N3XT.
• Never stored in any SY5TEM N3XT database or cloud service.

WRITE_CONTACTS — Contact Capture

The Contact Capture feature allows you to scan a QR code or speak a person's information to quickly create a new contact. When you confirm saving a contact, ThumbType writes it to your device's local contacts app. This data:

• Is saved only to your device's local contacts storage.
• Is never transmitted to SY5TEM N3XT.

Both permissions are requested at runtime and can be denied. Denying these permissions simply disables the relevant features; the keyboard continues to work normally.

6. Microphone & Voice Input

ThumbType requests the RECORD_AUDIO permission for two voice features:

Voice Typing on the Keyboard

The keyboard includes a voice input button powered by Vosk, a fully offline speech recognition engine. When you tap the microphone button:

• Audio is processed entirely on your device — nothing is sent to any server.
• The transcribed text is returned to the keyboard and inserted into the input field.
• SY5TEM N3XT does not receive, store, or process your audio or voice transcription.
• No internet connection is required for voice typing.

Voice Contact Capture

In the Contact Capture screen, you can speak a contact's information aloud. The audio is processed on-device to produce text, and then that text may be sent to OpenAI's API (using your own API key) to parse the contact fields. SY5TEM N3XT does not receive your audio or the transcribed text.

The RECORD_AUDIO permission is only active while you are actively using a voice feature. The microphone is not accessed passively or in the background.

7. Local On-Device Storage

ThumbType stores the following data locally on your device only using Android's SharedPreferences and local storage. None of this data is transmitted to SY5TEM N3XT.

• AI API Keys: Stored in private SharedPreferences (the thumbtype_ai preference file). Only your app can read these. Keys are never transmitted to SY5TEM N3XT.
• Active AI Provider Preference: Whether you have set up OpenAI as your AI Brain provider.
• AI Disclaimer Agreement: A flag recording whether you have read and agreed to the AI Brain disclaimer.
• Keyboard Settings: Your keyboard skin, color preferences, and layout customizations.
• Address Book: Contact records you have added in the app's built-in address book. Stored locally on your device.
• Personal Dictionary: Words you have manually added or that were auto-learned from your typing (e.g. names, usernames). Stored locally in private SharedPreferences. Never transmitted anywhere.
• Identity Hub Profiles: Your personal and business profile information for the networking features. Stored locally only.
• Notepad Content: Text notes you create in the Notepad feature. Stored locally only.

All locally stored data can be deleted by clearing the app's data or uninstalling the app.

9. Third-Party Services

ThumbType integrates with the following third-party services. SY5TEM N3XT does not control these services and their use of your data is governed by their own privacy policies.

AI Provider (Optional — only if you configure AI Brain)

• OpenAI API (ChatGPT) — receives your text when you use AI Brain with your OpenAI API key. Also used in Contact Capture voice parsing if your OpenAI key is active. Governed by OpenAI's Privacy Policy.

Google Speech Recognition (Android System)

Used for voice typing on the keyboard and voice contact capture. This is Android's built-in SpeechRecognizer and is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.

ZXing

ThumbType uses the ZXing open-source library for QR code generation and scanning. ZXing processes data entirely on-device and does not transmit any data.

There are no advertising networks, analytics SDKs, or data broker integrations in ThumbType.

10. Children's Privacy

ThumbType is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Important notice regarding the AI Brain feature: The AI Brain feature connects to third-party AI services that require account creation and may involve billing. Users under 18 should not set up API keys without the express permission and supervision of a parent or legal guardian. SY5TEM N3XT is not responsible for any charges incurred by minors through third-party AI service accounts.

11. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect the information stored on your device:

• API keys are stored in Android's private SharedPreferences storage, which is sandboxed to the ThumbType app and cannot be accessed by other apps without root access.
• All communications to AI providers use HTTPS (TLS encryption).
• ThumbType does not operate any cloud servers or databases, eliminating server-side data breach risk for your personal information.

Because we store no data on our own servers, there is no SY5TEM N3XT server that can be breached to expose your personal information.

12. Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. We may also notify you through an in-app notice. Continued use of ThumbType after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
